Crime problem

The Caribbean countries have a bad reputation when it comes to crimeThe Caribbean countries have a bad reputation when it comes to crime, poverty and social unrest. But the situation is not as bad as it may seem. It is as dangerous to walk the dark alleys of any major city in the world, as it is here. There are certain places tourists (especially well-off) should avoid, but there are even more places they should see. Just keep a close eye on your valuables and there will be no problem.

Some islands are practically crime-free while others have a reputation of having a higher crime rate in same areas. Usually, the tourist resorts are well protected and safe. But if you prefer spending time in more authentic surroundings, it is recommended to get acquainted with the potential dangers lurking. In most cases, the crime comes down to petty thefts, hustles and pick-pocketing. Of course, there are some more notorious places, but in general, the situation is not as bad as some may believe.

Remember to always keep your valuables near, don’t leave them at the beach or in the public and check out what are the areas that shouldn’t be visited after dark. If you are looking for places to party, there are numerous bars, restaurants, clubs, casinos, that are located in safer areas.
