SAILING CARIBBEAN

The Caribbean is one of the most attractive sailing areas in the worldThe Caribbean is undoubtedly one of the most attractive sailing areas in the world. This place of perpetual spring and thousands of islands has always attracted yachtsmen from all over the world. White sandy beaches, clear water, warm weather, lush vegetation and numerous islands are an idyllic for a pleasant and relaxing holiday.

The tourist season in the Caribbean lasts all year long, but it peaks from December to June. Although the rest of the year is considered to be the hurricane season (highpoint is in September and October), there are many tourists all year long. Although the devastating hurricanes are not as common as some may think, this is still the low season and the accompanying tourist services may not be completely at your disposal.

Due to an exceptionally large number of islands with different cultural, social and historical background, today visitors can enjoy various types of vacation – from fashionable and exclusive resorts to idyllic beaches and secluded bays with nothing but sun, sea, sand and trees around you.

Sailing the Caribbean requires experience in navigation and knowing the sailing area well. There are some specific features you should bare in mind. The maritime territory of the Caribbean is abundant with coral reef grooving near some islands; along with many mangroves they make a "living coast" which is always changing, and is not properly marked in the maps.
Also, the Trade Winds can be somewhat unfavourable; the strongest currents and largest waves are in the waters of the Atlantic (the NE sides of the islands), while the waters of the Caribbean are calmer and easier to sail.

Due to clear water, warm temperatures, lush vegetation and underwater biological communities, this is one of the most amazing diving and snorkelling areas in the world.
